Nikki's Story

"At the end of every Summer, there always seems to be a new family of fantails/Piwakawaka flitting around my garden, usually one or two fantail chicks with their mum, showing them how to catch bugs mid-air and to always avoid flying around the cat.

It's such a joy to watch them make use of their new wings with no care in the world while mum watches on, making constant erratic squeaks.

If I'm really lucky, the chicks will sometimes come close to check me out!"
